Brier Patch

A fruity and spiced summer sip with Southern flair—blackberries and vanilla bring out the rye’s bold edge in this bright, juicy cocktail.
1 oz Nelson Brothers Rye
0.5 oz lemon juice
0.75 oz vanilla syrup
1 dash cardamom bitters
4 muddled blackberries
Muddle blackberries in a shaker. Add remaining ingredients and ice. Shake and double strain into a rocks glass over pebble ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel, skewered blackberries, and a dusting of grated cinnamon.
Vanilla Syrup
Combine 1 cup demerara sugar with 1 cup water and a ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or paste. Bring to a simmer and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Store in the refrigerator.
