A quick stop from downtown Nashville to Marathon Village takes visitors back in time as they step foot inside Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. Digging into the past didn’t turn up skeletons and scandals for brothers Andy and Charlie Nelson; more like sour mash and stills. After discovering their triple great grandfather was one of the most successful whiskey distillers in pre-prohibition America, the brothers vowed to revive the since-forgotten family business.
If you’re into stories about sunken ships and lost gold, a woman running a distillery before women could vote and the rebirth of a business after 100 years, you’ll be sucked into the guided tour and tasting experiences offered at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. Sample the spirit based on the recipe for Tennessee’s oldest whiskey, as well as our modern-day bourbons and rye.
Commemorate your visit with a peek in the mercantile shop where spirits, apparel, and barware are available for purchase.
Our weekend experiences, Friday through Sunday, often sell out. We suggest booking online in advance to reserve your tour on those days. Tastings booked online must be done at least 15 minutes prior to tour start. If a tasting shows to be completely booked, please call to inquire about availability. We will always try to accommodate walk-in business if possible.

Distillery Tour with Whiskey Tasting

Follow a Certified Bourbon Steward on a journey through the generations of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, TN. Your tour starts with the origins of the Nelson family in our hall of history, followed by a walkthrough of our production floor and rickhouse, where you will learn the unique process of creating the original TN whiskey from distilling to barreling. You will finish your tour with a curated flight of four select whiskeys and learn some of our favorite tasting methods.
Duration: 45 minutes to an hour

Rickhouse Tastings + Bottle Your Own Experience

Take a seat in our Rickhouse speakeasy to enjoy a flight of some of our most rare and unique spirits. In this experience you will taste our distilling team's most limited and experimental whiskeys while discussing the product and process with a Certified Bourbon Steward. Choose your favorites, fill your bottle directly from our custom-made BYO system, and take home a piece of Nelson’s Green Brier history.

Premium Experiences
Available at 2 PM every Thursday and Saturday (subject to change).
The Nelson’s Green Brier Elevated Tasting is perfect for those interested in diving deeper into all things whiskey. This experience is led by one of our Certified Bourbon Stewards and whiskey experts. It begins with a detailed walkthrough of our production facility and a guided tasting of our Cask Series products. This experience concentrates on furthering your whiskey education through a mix of sensory analysis featuring our in-house sensory kits and group discussion. It ends with an exclusive pour and a special gift to take home.

Exclusive Cocktail Classes and Whiskey Pairings
In addition to our Distillery Tours and Premium Experiences, we offer a variety of intimate cocktail classes and whiskey pairings that allow our guests to dive deeper into the world of craft distilling and the art of cocktails. Each offering has been curated by our expert mixologists, Bourbon Stewards, and culinary team and is available just a few times throughout the year.
