Blazing the Trail

2 oz Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
.75 oz Louisa’s Liqueur
.25 oz vanilla syrup 
1 dash chocolate bitters
5 drops sea salt solution

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over large ice. Garnish with a piece of dark chocolate.

To prepare the vanilla syrup, combine one cup demerara sugar with one cup water in a saucepan. Heat to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add one teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate for up to 4 weeks.

For the sea salt to solution, combine .75 oz coarse sea salt with 2.5 oz of water in a jar. Seal the jar and shake hard to combine. Continue shaking until the salt is dissolved.
