Don & Betty Old Fashioned

One of television’s most iconic drinkers, Mad Men’s Don Draper, was frequently seen with an Old Fashioned in hand – and always garnished with a cherry and orange slice. Here, we’ve opted to use the fruit as a sweetener, muddling the cherry and orange to infuse the cocktail with bright, citrusy flavors, sure to impress Don Draper himself.

2 oz Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
Barspoon of brown sugar
Orange slice
Luxardo cherry
1 dash aromatic bitters
1 dash orange bitters
Cherry and orange zest for garnish

Place orange slice and cherry in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add brown sugar and bitters and muddle gently to combine. Add whiskey and ice and stir until chilled. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a rocks glass over one large cube or sphere. Express the oils from an orange peel over the top of the drink and garnish as desired.
