Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery seeks an ambitious operative to manage a busy and ever-busier roster of live events, rentals, parties, awards presentations, readings, classes, exhibitions, and other such festivities. Though years of professional experience, references, and a dazzling portfolio are obvious prerequisites, we’re really looking for a candidate who can embody that rarest combination of qualities: Expansively creative and rigorously organized, independent of spirit and fluently communicative, meticulous with details and comfortable with delegating.

You get the picture. You’ll need to be equally interested in the journey and the destination. And a working knowledge of Nashville’s craft liquor community couldn’t hurt.  

In some cases, the job will require delivering an event from pillar to post: pitching, planning, producing, promoting, budgeting, staffing, VIP wrangling, and being on call until the last guests have left the building. In others, it will mean working directly with rental clients to identify their goals, anticipate their needs, and ensure their satisfaction. In still others, it will mean carrying on existing Green Brier traditions, or collaborating with members of key departments to generate new ones—all while keeping in mind the larger project of promoting the company’s unique identity.

•Ability meet objectives in all stages of event planning, design, and production.

•Management of all project elements within time limits and on budget.

•Ability to be flexible with multiple event strategies: event-space liaison with outside planners/contractors; in-house planner for NGBD sponsored events; outreach with Nashville events community.

•Exceptional communication skills to work with clients, identify their needs, and ensure customer satisfaction.

•Ability to conduct market research and gather relevant information about local programming trends.

•Contract negotiation.

•Providing clear, well-written periodic reports to supervisor.

•Able to articulately propose ideas to improve services and event quality.

•Commitment to compliance with all insurance, legal, health, and safety obligations.

•Management skills needed to staff events.

•Enthusiasm for collaboration with marketing and PR efforts to promote and publicize events.

•Clear Headed, proactive approach to troubleshooting emerging problems on the event day.

•Willingness to conduct transparent post-event evaluations.

•Required to have a deep familiarity with the company’s story, tour, brand, and products.


•3+ years professional experience in event management, planning, or related field.

•Employer and client references.

•Portfolio of previously managed events.

•Superb time management and communication skills, verbal and written.

•Sales skills and an aptitude for building productive business relationships.

•Ability to oversee multiple projects independently.

•Proficient in MS Office, event management software (Gather, etc.) and/or reservation system software (Fareharbor, Open Table, etc.). Some social media management and design software experience (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is a plus.
