Brothers Andy and Charlie Nelson are fifth generation descendants of Charles Nelson, a German immigrant whose drive and ingenuity built the most productive distillery in pre-Prohibition America. Today, with whiskey in their blood, the Nelson brothers have revived the historic family business, and are once again producing the legendary Belle Meade Bourbon and Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey at Nelson's Green Brier Distillery in downtown Nashville.
Together with an innovative Special Cask Finish Series, these small batch spirits have been warmly welcomed by the drinking public and richly honored by the industry: notable accolades include Garden & Gun's "Made in the South Awards," Southern Living's"Food Awards" and Gold and Double-Gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Nelson's First 108, a faithful recreation of their ancestor's signature spirit, was be released on July 4th, 2017.
The Nelson brothers' wake-up call to fight cancer came a few years ago when their cousin Andy Dale was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He acted quickly to beat it, and after multiple surgeries and more chemotherapy than anyone cares to remember, he did, and has enjoyed a clean bill of health for the past year. Says Andy Nelson, "It's unfortunate that sometimes it takes someone close to you getting the diagnosis in order for reality to smack you in the face. We want to be more proactive about the fight, and raising awareness, to help more people beat cancer."
