First pioneered in the the late 1800s, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery thrived as one of the top whiskey distilleries in the nation until the ill-timed Prohibition pushed it into a hiatus lasting over 100 years. We honor the 84th anniversary of Prohibition's repeal (December 5, 1933) and the passage of the 21st ammendment, an act that allowed us to launch the second wave of the Nelson family's whiskey making business.
We celebrate Repeal Day because December 5th marks a return to the rich traditions of craft fermentation and distillation, the legitimacy of the American bartender as a contributor to the culinary arts, and the responsible enjoyment of alcohol as a sacred social custom.
